Criminal charges against the victim of a shooting in Huddersfield have been dropped.

Arfan Mehmood, 31, was shot in the head last month.

He  was attacked as he sat in a car on Springwood Avenue at 9.30pm on March 11.

 

Mr Mehmood, of Springwood Avenue in Springwood, was seriously injured and had to undergo head and shoulder surgery.

He has been detained in hospital with serious injuries since the attack.

He had been due to stand trial at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court this week.

Mr Mehmood denied assaulting a man and a woman on April 27 last year.

Magistrates were on Wednesday told that the case against Mr Mehmood has been discontinued.

Two Huddersfield men have been charged with conspiracy to murder Mr Mehmood and are currently on remand awaiting a trial at Leeds Crown Court.

Detectives are continuing inquiries into the shooting.
