CHARITIES and voluntary groups gathered in Huddersfield on Friday to learn about funding opportunities.

The event, at the Brian Jackson Centre on New North Road, featured speakers from the National Lottery and the Arts Council.

More than 50 people attended, including representatives of the Colne Valley Museum and Huddersfield Volunteer Action Team.

Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman organised the event. He said: “I thought it would be a good idea to get the National Lottery and the Arts Council to come and present what they do and what they give grants for. Huddersfield has received £40m from the National Lottery since it started in 1994.

“I hope the people who attended know the range of funding options available.”
