AN organisation which helps Huddersfield people with brain injuries raised £280 at the town's B&Q store.

The Huddersfield and District branch of Headway held a collection at the DIY store on the Leeds Road Retail Park to coincide with Brain Injury Awareness Week.

Other Headway groups did the same thing at B&Q stores across the country.

B&Q promised its support to the charity after the son of an employee at its Portsmouth store suffered a brain injury in a car accident.

Headway offers support and help for people who have suffered brain injuries.

The Huddersfield branch opened last summer and has 30 members.

It meets on the last Monday of every month at Voluntary Action Kirklees on Lord Street.
