MORE THAN 70 members of the UK Asian Christian Fellowship helped raise money for the victims of the tsunami disaster.

The Huddersfield branch, based at St Cuthbert's Church, Birkby, held a charity dinner at Huddersfield Town Hall on Sunday to raise more than £2,000.

Their efforts come after the group raised £10,000 last year for survivors of the Iranian earthquake.

Secretary general of the fellowship Yaqub Masih has just returned from the Punjab region of Pakistan, where the group is sponsoring ten underprivileged children.

He said: "We believe that when any human is in need, no matter who they are, we should support them. As Christians it is our duty."
