Charity fashion show a big hit for Calderdale floods relief

Models take to catwalk to raise hundreds of pounds

A charity fashion show has helped raise cash for Calderdale’s flood victims.

The event was held at the Casa Hotel in Elland Road, Brighouse, and organised by Lindley-based Sunflowers Lingerie and Swimwear.

Models took to the catwalk to model summer fashions including swimwear.

And many local firms took part including Sunflowers, M & Co, Shooby Loo, Eleanor Bridal, Divas and Christie Lea.

The fashion show was supported by local traders selling accessories such as jewellery, scarves, handbags and other items.

The success of the event delighted Linda Tait, of Sunflowers.

She said: “We raise cash for charities including breast cancer but I was moved by what happened in the floods.

“I am from Calderdale and know at first hand a lot of people who suffered.

“Even though Boxing Day may seem a long time ago, there are many people whose homes and businesses are continuing to suffer through the floods and the aftermath of what was a disaster.

“I’m delighted so many people turned out to back the event and it was a success”.

The show raised more than £1,000 for the flood relief fund.
