BATLEY and Spen MP Mike Wood is helping the a charity for the blind and backing recycling, by volunteering his constituency office as a new collection point for aluminium foil and cans.
He stepped in to help the Society for the Blind of Dewsbury, Batley and District - of which he is a patron - after they lost a longstanding collection point.
Proceeds from the cans, which are reprocessed, help raise much-needed funds to support running the Whitfield Centre in Batley, and activities to improve the lives of local visually impaired people.
Mr Wood said: "I'm delighted to be able to offer my assistance to the Society, which does a marvellous job for those constituents of mine who are visually impaired."
The office is at 9 Cross Crown Street, Cleckheaton. A second collection point is at Preston's newsagents, Westgate, Dewsbury.
