A WOMAN escaped with shock after her car crashed into a Brighouse charity shop.

A blue Honda Civic hit the front of the Overgate Hospice shop in Bethel Street at 1pm yesterday.

The shop window was shattered but no-one inside was hurt. Police closed the road for an hour as they dealt with the accident.

Brighouse fire station watch manager Andy Medlock said: “I think everyone was a bit shocked when the car ploughed into the front of the shop. “Thankfully no-one was seriously injured but we had to make sure the vehicle was safe from settling on fire.

“The concern was that the plate glass window which had shattered could hurt people.

“The shop was full of people and a few of them were shaken but ok.”
