A BRIGHOUSE charity shop celebrates its 14th birthday this month.

The PDSA shop in Commercial Street raises money to provide free veterinary treatment in the area, including the Huddersfield PDSA PetAid medical unit.

The birthday will be marked on Saturday, August 14, with a promotion of all stock between 1 and 3pm and a lucky dip for children.

And actress Sue Nicholls - Audrey Roberts from Coronation Street - is asking people to continue to help support the PDSA by giving at least £1 to help save a pet's life.

She said: "With more than 4,500 sick and injured animals treated by the PDSA every working day, the charity is a lifeline to thousands of people and their pets.

"As you walk past your local PDSA shop this month please spare £1 and help treat pets in need of vets."

To be eligible for PDSA treatment, a pet owner must live within the postcode area of a PetAid hospital of practice and be receiving either housing benefit or council tax benefit.
