EMBRACE ended a momentous week by seeing their new album top the charts.

This New Day reached the number one spot in the UK album charts on Sunday.

It is the third number one album for the group.

The others were their 1998 debut, The Good Will Out, and 2004 comeback album Out Of Nothing.

Sunday's number one is the icing on the cake for Embrace.

Just a week before they were celebrating their current single, Nature's Law, going into the UK charts at number two.

Then they announced that they would be recording England's official World Cup Song.

All this success has come 18 months after the release of Out Of Nothing.

Before the 2004 album - which went double platinum - the band had thought their career was over.

They had been dropped by their record label, Hut, and signed to Independiente.

The faith their new label showed has certainly paid off.

Singer Danny McNamara said he and his four bandmates could not believe their success.

He said: "It's unbelievable that we've just had our third number one album.

"After being together for almost 10 years we've been through our ups and downs.

"Today is definitely a day to celebrate."
