TRAVEL centre staff say money-saving School Plus MetroCards and PhotoCards have been snapped up pupils go back to school.

Parents and pupils throughout West Yorkshire have been getting the cards, say centre managers.

School Plus MetroCards give young people aged five to 16 and full-time school students aged 16 to 18 unlimited bus travel in West Yorkshire at any time and on any day of the week.

They cost £5.50 a week or £20.50 a month.

Leaflets explaining how to get School Plus MetroCards and PhotoCards are available from Metro travel centres, bus stations and post offices.

To obtain a PhotoCard, applicants need to take along a recent passport-style photo - colour or black and white - and a £2 administration fee.

When getting a Young Person's PhotoCard applicants need to attend in person, complete an application form and provide proof of identity and age, such as their birth certificate or NHS medical card

When getting an annual Scholar's PhotoCard, applicants need to complete an application form available from their school or college.

This needs to be certified and dated by the school or college principal. The applicant must also provide proof that they live in West Yorkshire.

First-time applicants need to attend in person, but friends or family members can renew the card by quoting the Young Person or Scholar's PhotoCard number.
