A VILLAGE pub is toasting its success after being named Yorkshire's Top Tetley Local.

More than 100 regulars joined in the celebrations at The Boot and Shoe in Scholes, Holmfirth.

The pub beat about 1,500 other Tetley outlets in Yorkshire to win the award.

The Boot and Shoe is run by David and Debbie Whitely, who were presented with a £1,000 cheque and a plaque.

Debbie said: "It was fantastic.

"All our locals came to the celebration. It was great to reward them, as they are part of our success."

The pub was assessed on criteria including quality of its beer, atmosphere and cleanliness.

Gordon Boyd, sales development manager at Carlsberg UK, said: "The pub is a credit to Dave and Debbie. It has a great atmosphere."
