TWO Huddersfield watering holes have won national real ale awards.
Berry Brow Liberal Club and The Star pub at Folly Hall have won regional awards from the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra).
The Berry Brow club has been named Yorkshire Camra Club of the Year 2003 and The Star is Yorkshire Camra Pub of the Year 2003.
And on Saturday Camra's Yorkshire director, Mick Moss, visited both. He made presentations to the club steward and stewardess, Russell and Anne Orton, and The Star's licensees, Sam Watt and Tyrone Lawton.
Mr Lawton is pictured with Mr Moss (centre) and Miss Watt.
Mr and Mrs Orton took over the Berry Brow club in 1997 and have helped turn around its fortunes.
They have also got it in Camra's national Good Beer Guide. The club has previously won Huddersfield Camra's local club of the year award.
Mr Orton said: "It was good to win the regional award. Bring on the next one!"
The Star was named Huddersfield Pub of the Year in 2003. The quality of its beer has also seen it win numerous awards from Huddersfield Camra.
