YOUNGSTERS will be given a chance to learn how to meditate.

The Vajrapani Buddhist Centre in Belmont Street, Highfields, Huddersfield is offering meditation classes, catering for youngsters aged between four and 14.

The classes are suitable for beginners and the more experienced.

Children will be given a gentle introduction to Buddhism - but they must be accompanied by an adult.

Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso said: "If we train our mind to become peaceful we shall be happy all the time, even in the most adverse conditions.

"But if our mind is not peaceful, then even if we have the most pleasant external conditions we shall not be happy.

"Therefore, it is important to train our mind through meditation."

The classes are designed to be self-contained and cater for those who wish to do several classes or drop in at any time.
