SCHOOL children from Huddersfield will get a taste of the pop star lifestyle when they take to the stage for a stadium concert.

Youngsters from Dalton School, Golcar J and I School and Nursery, Highburton First School and Kirkheaton Primary School will join singer Lee Ryan at the Young Voices event being held at Sheffield’s Hallam FM arena today and tomorrow.

Ryan, who was part of boy band Blue, headlines the event, which also includes champion beat boxer Beardyman and opera singers Alexander Grove and Louise Sjostedt.

Young Voices marketing director Ben Lewis said: “We have found that encouraging children to take part in such large scale concerts is a great way to interest them in a very broad range of music, from pop to opera.

“It is really important that children have the chance to get involved with music and performing with celebrity acts is a fitting reward for all the hard work they put in.”

Young Voices, organisers of the world’s biggest children’s choir concerts, holds events across the country, raising cash for charities CLIC Sargent and Great Ormond Street.
