SCHOOLCHILDREN believe lorries should be banned from Flockton.

The suggestion was made after Flockton First School pupils took part in a survey for Kirklees Council's Kirkburton Area Committee.

The survey was part of a wider consultation to find out what residents thought about the area and how it could be improved.

Among the 105 schoolchildren who responded, the most popular suggestion was to ban lorries.

An overwhelming number also disliked vandalism, graffiti and litter.

On a positive note, they said their favourite things about the area were the countryside, wildlife and parks.

The school has made litter and the environment a priority and Kirklees Council environment officers have been educating pupils on how to reduce litter and recycle.
