ANIMATIONS by Huddersfield schoolchildren will feature in this year’s Marsden Jazz Festival which starts today.

Fettle Animation worked with 200 children in Marsden, Golcar and Crosland Moor to create the short films.

Producer Kath Shackleton said: “We went into schools armed with favourite tracks from some of this year’s festival artists, such as King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, to inspire the kids into creating something for themselves.

“They were a bit apprehensive at first but then started to relax and have some fun with it.ŠThey created some really fun, bright and colourful images ranging from dots and squiggles that dance along to the music, through to drumming cats and flying pigs.”

The animations will be played on TVs installed in shop windows throughout the village this weekend.

The equipment was donated by Broadbents of Leeds Road.
