The talents of future artists have been celebrated as part of a bumper fundraising mission in the Holme Valley.

Around 100 striking artworks by mini art masters went on display at Thongsbridge Tennis Club on Saturday.

Organised by Wooldale Junior School arts coordinators Rebecca Starrett and Jane Hilton, the Holme Valley Children’s Art Exhibiton, which is part of the annual Holmfirth Arts Week, will showcase the skills of children aged from three to 11 and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Captivating watercolours, abstract paintings and landscapes are on sale for just £10.

Rebecca, who has been involved in the event for several years, said: “We decided to bring the exhibition forward this year so that everyone can see these fantastic pieces before the end of the school year.

“We are very proud to be involved in the art week and it’s a real privilege to be able to showcase the talents of young people from the valley.

“Hopefully we will raise around £500 this year which will be given to the Holmfirth Art Week’s fund.”

Holmfirth Art Week attracts visitors from around the country to view and buy the work of artists from the area.

This year it will run from July 20 to 26.

The children’s art exhibition will run from 8am to 10pm.
