HUDDERSFIELD Grammar School's senior choir came close to a top accolade.
The singers took second place at the Yorkshire schools Choir of the Year competition.
The contest was held in Leeds. Thirty-seven pupils aged 11 to 16 took part in the competition.
Hannah Bell, aged 15, was one of the soloists. "It was a great experience to get through to the finals, to perform in this lovely venue was wonderful!" she said.
The choir was one of 12 schools who were chosen to compete on the strength of CDs they sent in. They sang Oh Holy Night in the finals. Choir members are pictured, right, with Hannah Bell and Ashford Campbell in the centre, holding the trophy.
