CHILDREN at Christ Church in Moldgreen got messy with an arts and crafts day.

Organised by church helpers Faith Boyle and Julie Batters, the event aimed to show people that the church was not only open on a Sunday.

Faith said: “We wanted to pass kids the message that they are special and talented and God loves them.

“Some parents stayed and had cream teas but it was mainly a day for the children.

“We had 28 children altogether who came along to the day.

“It was great. They all took part in the crafts and activities which included decorating gingerbread men, making grass-heads and lots of other stuff.

“The children loved it and it went really well. We hope to run another event close to Christmas.

The Messy Church event was organised as part of the Fresh Expressions service and ran from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday.
