WITH four young daughters, you would think that Charlene Novak would be busy enough during the run-up to the festive season.

But the selfless mum can only think about others as Christmas approaches and those who may be alone or miserable.

Charlene, who lives in Lockwood and attends the Jubilee Centre Community Church in Paddock, decided to organise a Christmas lunch for the community, after hearing that many people had no celebrations to attend this year.

And Huddersfield Pendragon Round Table, which organises its annual Christmas Wish campaign each year with the Huddersfield Daily Examiner, was only too happy to help her fund the project.

Charlene, who is married to Gavin and has daughters Elisha, nine, Lauren, six, Chloe, five and Amber, four said: “My house is tiny, but I heard about so many people who were going to be alone this year and I just couldn’t have enjoyed myself at home knowing that.

“There have been lots of offers of help and I am delighted that Huddersfield Pendragon Round Table has agreed to fund it.

“Thank-you so much. I am absolutely overwhelmed. I wish I could express in words how happy you have all made me feel.”

The traditional Christmas lunch at the Jubilee Centre at 2pm will be followed by carols, traditional games and a special cake for Jesus.

Jonathan Turton, of Huddersfield Pendragon Round Table, handed over a cheque for £800 to Charlene to ensure the Christmas day celebrations were a big success.

He said: “Charlene has done a fantastic job organising this, especially when she must be so busy herself at this time of year.

“We were only too happy to fund this wish”.
