TEENAGE con artists are being given money after claiming to be collecting for a church.
Now, a warning about the young Huddersfield crooks has been issued by the minister of New North Road Baptist Church.
The Rev Dr Philip Clements-Jewery, who heads the church at the junction of Trinity Street and the ring road, said the teenagers had been going round the Oakes area asking for money for a church mini-bus.
They claimed they were from "New North Road Parish Church".
Mr Clements-Jewery said his church was not seeking money for that purpose.
The gang had nothing to do with his church.
He added: "We are concerned not only that the good name of the church is being compromised, but that people are being defrauded."
