HUDDERSFIELD churches have been singled out for praise. The compliments have come from officials in the Wakefield diocese.
A group has been set up to examine what can be done to encourage people to visit churches out of architectural rather than spiritual interest.
Huddersfield Parish Church, St Peter's, is noted for the impressive glass in its East Window, while All Hallows' Church, Almondbury, is described as "an architectural jewel, embellished in the 15th and 19th centuries".
Other churches highlighted include St Peter's Church at Woolley, which dates back to medieval times, while Dewsbury Minster has ancient ornamental screens.
