CHURCH members have invested £10,000 so they can spend a penny in comfort.
And Margaret Humphries and other members are pictured opening the new toilet block at Newsome South Methodist Church, Berry Brow.
The block has been totally refurbished, with new fixtures and fittings, tiling, floor covering and adaptations for disabled people.
The work was carried out with a legacy from Betsy Haigh, a church member who was disabled, and a £3,000 grant from Kirklees Council.
The church, on Birch Road, is also used by local groups such as mothers and toddlers, Slimming World and a playgroup.
The facilities for the disabled complement other changes, including a hearing loop system for the deaf and large-print hymnbooks for people with failing vision.
The church is all on one level and a ramp is provided to the main entrance.
