LAWBREAKERS are being put to work on cleaning up public toilets.

Offenders serving community punishment orders are painting over graffiti and clearing surrounding land at Station Road, Mirfield.

They are working at the site after concerns about the state of the toilet block.

Further work, which is being done by Kirklees Council, includes jet-washing the building and replacing broken windows.

Plans for possible improvements in the future are also being drawn up.

Clr Martyn Bolt, chairman of Kirklees Council's Mirfield area committee, said: "The condition of the public toilets has been a concern for some time."
