PLANS to attract more visitors and jobs to Yorkshire's market towns need to be clearer, says a report.

A study of schemes in towns including Penistone found room for improvement.

The review for the Yorkshire and Humber Assembly looked at grants and support given to towns by development agency Yorkshire Forward.

It urged that a number of changes should be made to improve the programme. These would help ensure good futures for market towns and rural communities.

A spokesman for Yorkshire Forward said the recommendations would be adopted.
