A FAMILY today offered a £1,000 reward – to recover their beloved family cats.

Leigh and Kate Sutton say they will pay out the cash to help police track down the missing pets, named Zuma and Ruble.

Both are a rare breed and were stolen from the family’s home in Scholes, Cleckheaton, by burglars who struck last month.

The intruders ransacked the downstairs of the house while the couple and their young daughters were in bed.

And they drove off in the family’s VW Polo along with stolen property and the cats.

The thieves also took items worth hundreds of pounds, including electric goods, a laptop and a games console.

But it is the cat theft which has upset the Suttons – especially six-year-old Saffron and four-year-old Summer.

“They are both desperately upset”, said their dad, Leigh.

“They cannot understand why someone would want to take their pets.

“We have spent hours searching the streets round our home in Scholes Lane and posted photos of the cats but have heard nothing.

“Now we hope the reward may help get the cats back home”.

Both cats are Birman house cats which the family have owned for 10 years, since they were kittens.

Both are cream and white with grey tails and white paws.

Police found the VW Polo dumped in Wyke, between Bradford and Brighouse, with evidence that the cats had been inside.

Mr Sutton added: “We are all heartbroken. Christmas has been ruined by this.

“We don’t want all the items back, just our family pets.”

West Yorkshire Police urged anyone with information to contact them via 101.
