TIME is standing still for visitors to Huddersfield.

Anyone arriving at the town’s imposing railway station in St George’s Square will be left puzzled.

For the station clock has stopped at 12.40 and the clock on the junction of John William Street and Northumberland Street has stopped at 6.30.

One bemused passer-by said: “It doesn’t give a great impression for anyone arriving in the town.”

A Kirklees Council spokesman said: “The faults at the railway station and at John William Street have now been reported to our engineers, who will attend as soon as possible.”
