A COUNCILLOR has helped raise more than £600 for wounded soldiers.

Clr Nicola Turner was one of six riders to take part in a 100-mile horse trek for Help for Heroes.

The Colne Valley Lib Dem took part in the five-day ride around the South Pennines.

She said: “This was a fantastic experience, riding on some superb bridleways in all weathers in the beautiful countryside.

“It would be great to see a similar circular route in Kirklees which would bring tourists into the area and boost our local economy.

“It was a wonderful but challenging way to raise money for such a worthwhile cause.”

The group of friends took part in the ride from June 6 to June 10.
