THESE conservation volunteers will be able to increase their work on the banks of the River Dearne, thanks to a grant from the Co-op.
Mrs Betty Gibbs, of the Co-operative Group, presented a cheque to the Upper Dearne Woodlands Conservation Group to buy a petrol driven brush-cutter or strimmer.
The machine is to be used to control the growth of bracken, nettles and brambles, which will make it easier for people to use the woodland walks on both sides of the river near Birdsedge and Upper Cumberworth.
It will also enable the 40 different kinds of flowers that grow there to spread into the new areas. (s)
