Would-be MP Binnie Joshi Barr has had a baby.

The Colne Valley Labour candidate gave birth to her daughter in the early hours of Monday.

It is a second child for Mrs Barr and her husband Luke, who have a three-year-old son, Kishan.

And right up until the birth, she was helping others.

She held a baby party with a difference, asking friends and relatives to bring nappies, cotton wool and toiletries.

The items were donated to the Holme Valley Foodbank.

She said: “Food banks have become an everyday reality for a growing number of people, many of them parents.

“I know my own baby will be provided for, so I decided to use the generous donations of my friends and family to help those people who are struggling at the moment.”

And Mrs Barr is asking others to join her.

She said: “It’s distressing to realise how many people have come to rely on food banks.

“I would hope that others will join me in donating what they can to their local food bank”.
