TV funny-man Bobby Ball entertained Huddersfield diners and told them about his Christian faith.

Bobby, half of the duo Cannon and Ball, spoke about becoming a born-again Christian several years ago and how his life had been affected by it.

The dinner, at the Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top, was attended by about 155 people.

It was organised by Michael Smith, a member of St Philip's Church, Birchencliffe.

Mr Smith said: "It was a very good night.

"He stayed afterwards and chatted to people and signed copies of his books and videos."

Bobby, who teamed up with fellow Oldham welder Tommy Cannon, found fame after appearing on TV talent show Opportunity Knocks.

The pair had their own TV show in 1979 and were popular entertainers for most of the 1980s.
