THE Sellers International Band brought seasonal sounds to a Huddersfield charity concert.

The band held its annual Music for Christmas concert at St Paul's Hall.

Each year, the band holds a festive concert for a good cause. This year, band chairman David Armitage decided to give the proceeds to Huddersfield Parish Church's Cornerstone appeal.

Mr Armitage is a patron of the appeal, which aims to raise cash to modernise the church and make it more accessible.

The Vicar of Huddersfield, the Rev Catherine Ogle, said: "We're thrilled that David has chosen to support the Cornerstone appeal this year."

Performers at the concert included Jason McCann, son of the band's musical director Philip McCann.

Jason, who trained at the Guildhall School of Acting and the Royal Northern College of Music, sang excerpts from West End shows, where he is making his name.

Soprano Elizabeth Atkinson - who won the Kirklees Young Musician of the Year award at the 2004 Mrs Sunderland Music Festival - also sang.

Elizabeth, originally from Dalton, is studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
