A SPECIAL event is being held for people who work in childcare or want to know about starting a childcare career.

Kirklees Early Years Service is staging the Childcare Career Pathway drop-in event nextThursday, noon to 8pm, at the Galpharm Stadium, Huddersfield.

The aim is to increase awareness of the different options available for existing childcare workers and those interested in a childcare role around training, qualifications and career advancement.

Information will be available on everything people need to know about starting or advancing in a childcare career.

Advisers from Kirklees College, Huddersfield University, Jobcentre Plus, Kirklees Early Years training team and private training providers will be on hand to provide advice, guidance and answers to any questions related to qualifications, funding, the Graduate Leader Fund, work placements and career pathways.

Donna Pendergast, Childcare Workforce Development Officer at Kirklees Council, said: “A career in childcare is varied, challenging and rewarding. Children deserve the best possible start in life and childcare workers help them to achieve this.

“Good quality education and childcare make a real difference to the lives of children and their families.”
