IT IS your chance to become an opera diva - for just £100.

Well at least to dress like one for this weekend, Opera North is selling off some of its hand-made costumes from its award-winning productions.

The big sell-off is all in a good cause. For when over 3,000 costumes from 22 productions are put up for grabs this weekend, the money raised will go towards the massive facelift now underway at the company's performance HQ, Leeds Grand Theatre.

Styles range from the whacky Vivienne Westwood-esque to 1970s rock band groupies, or pre-Raphaelite warriors to 1960s madcap airline uniforms.

Costumes are expected to sell for less than £100 when their true value is priceless as every one of the 3,000 pieces was hand-made by the costumiers of Opera North. The sale opens tomorrow and Sunday from 10am to 4pm at the rehearsal rooms of Leeds Grand Theatre (entrance on Harrison Street).
