FOUR teenagers are a step closer to a visit to Finland thanks to the generosity of Meltham Town Council.

The four Ranger guides, who attend South District Rangers in Meltham, plan to experience life in Finland, meet its people and discover its culture.

They shared in a £600 donation from the council towards their visit to a jamboree in Finland in July.

Sarah McHale, Anna Harding, Katy Hoyle and Ashleigh Newby, who are aged between 15 and 17, will spend 10 days camping in the country, seven days involved in community service and will have the opportunity to do some sightseeing for four days.

They each have to raise £900 to pay for the trip.

Mrs Carole Brett, South District Rangers guider, said: "They have been very busy doing fundraising, sending letters and doing odd jobs for relatives. They are also holding a sale at Asda and organising a flower demonstration."
