COUNCIL tax bills are to go up by just 3.2%.

It will mean an average rise for households across Kirklees of £48 per year.

But with most homes falling in either Band A or Band B, the increase will be less than 60p a week.

The increase, agreed last night by Kirklees Council, is the smallest rise for several years and is the first in line with inflation.

Ambitious spending plans were also approved by the council and Leader Robert Light said: "We have created a new culture".
