COUNCILLORS from the North East visited Kirklees to pick up tips on making the best use of green spaces.

The 15-strong group from Gateshead were given a tour of local attractions – including Crow Nest Park, Dewsbury, the Savile Town 'Green Gym' and the newly refurbished Dewsbury Museum.

It was a reciprocal visit as last year, members of Dewsbury Area Committee went to Gateshead to see at first-hand how the town had become a nationally praised beacon of regeneration.

Clr Masood Ahmed, chairman of Dewsbury Area Committee, said: “There are similarities between our towns and the useful bond we have formed will help both Dewsbury and Gateshead to move forward with confidence.”
