KIRKLEES Council's website has been judged one of the best for the second year running.

It has gained a top 20 place in an inspection of more than 450 local council websites.

The independent survey was carried out by the Society of IT Managers.

Clr Paul Battye, the council's Cabinet member for administration and business, said it was a fantastic achievement.

Developing the site was part of a key strategy to make it easier for people to contact the council.

He said: "The more residents who can access services through electronic methods the shorter the queues get in our public offices for those who cannot."
