A COUPLE who face a string of fraud allegations have appeared in court.

Sian Lewis,30, and Mark Small, 46, were before Huddersfield magistrates yesterday.

The couple, of The Knowle in Shepley, are jointly charged with eight counts of fraud by false representation, plus a charge of obtaining money by deception and distributing goods using a false trade mark.

Lewis faces a further charge of fraud by false representation.

The charges date back to July, 2004, when at Hall Close, Meltham, the pair are alleged to have dishonestly obtained £318,750 from UCB Home Loans by falsely representing their income on a mortgage application.

In March, 2007, Lewis then allegedly falsely declared her true earnings to obtain an advance of cash from future mortgages.

In June that year the pair are alleged to have converted the fraudulently obtained cash into an interest into the purchase of their Shepley home.

The couple’s case was adjourned and they will next appear before magistrates on November 25 when their case is likely to be committed to crown court.
