A COUPLE celebrated their silver wedding anniversary by donating to Kirkwood Hospice.
Helen and Roy Hardcastle, of Lepton, organised a party to commemorate 25 years of marriage.
But instead of gifts, they asked their friends to donate to the hospice instead.
They raised £650 on their special night at 315 Restaurant and Bar, Lepton, through contributions.
A raffle was also held, with prizes donated by local restaurants and supermarkets.
Helen’s dad and other friends of the couple have taken up residency at the Dalton-based hospice over recent years.
Friend Donna Hardcastle said: “This is one of many selfless acts organised by the family as they regularly support the hospice and other charities.
“They have also been long term foster carers for many years, helping dozens of young people who have been taken from their families”.
