A COUPLE who met at a dance at David Brown's, Crosland Moor, have celebrated their golden wedding.

June and Roy Bellwood, of Deyne Road, Netherton, were married at Linthwaite Parish Church.

Mr Bellwood, 71, worked as a self-employed heating engineer.

During his National Service he served with the Duke of Wellington's regiment in Gibraltar for two years.

Mrs Bellwood, 68, worked as a mender at John Crowther's Mill, Milnsbridge.

She also set up a business of her own, a babywear shop in Manchester Road, Cowlersley, which she ran for nine years.

The couple have two children and two grandchildren.

They are members of The Owls leisure group and participate in activities at Huddersfield Sports Centre and The Phoenix Centre in Holmfirth. They also enjoy old time dancing.

The couple celebrated with a party at the Durker Roods Hotel, Meltham.
