STANLEY and Lilian Manning are celebrating their diamond wedding.

The couple, of Balmoral Avenue, Crosland Moor, met when Mrs Manning was visiting her sister in Dalton.

They married at Kirkheaton Parish Church and are pictured now and on their wedding day.

Mr Manning worked for 30 years at John Crowther and Sons, Milnsbridge, as a foreman wool scourer. He then spent 10 years at the former Hopkinsons Valves in Birkby.

During the Second World War he served with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps for six years in North Africa.

Mrs Manning, 80, worked in munitions during the war and had several part- time jobs, including being an auxiliary nurse at St Luke’s Hospital for 15 years.

They have four children, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. They will be celebrating with a party.
