POLICE in Dewsbury are calling time on drunken anti-social behaviour.

Officers are working together with other agencies to crack down on illegal and irresponsible selling and consumption of alcohol in the district.

The initiative is part of the Force Festive Alcohol Misuse Enforcement Campaign, which runs through until the New Year.

Chief Insp Keith Hallas, of Dewsbury Police, said: "We will be focusing on licensed premises where incidents of disorder and abuse of licensing laws have taken place in the past.

"We will take a firm line to make sure that the licensing laws are fully implemented and enforced."

People should be able to have a social drink in a safe environment with a friendly atmosphere, he said.
