A crash on the M62 during rush hour caused jams back to Leeds.

Two cars collided on the motorway near Huddersfield at 5.45pm.

The incident on the westbound side between Junction 25, Brighouse and Junction 24 Ainley Top caused the closure of the hard shoulder and two lanes.

Firefighters from Huddersfield were called to cut the roof from one of the cars to free a trapped person.

But police have said it is not thought that there were any serious injuries.

The incident has now been cleared from the carriageway and traffic is returning to normal levels.

Meanwhile an HGV and a car were in a collision at Junction 24 eastbound at almost the same time.

It is thought no-one was injured in that incident.
