A MAN with a badly broken leg was pulled from a car after a crash in Quarmby.

The passenger was injured when a Peugeot 306 hit a tree on Reinwood Road near Burnsall Court in Quarmby at 1am today.

The driver - a 21-year-old man from Almondbury - had suffered a cut to his head and hand.

The passenger - a 26-year-old from Milnsbridge - was pulled out of the badly damaged car immediately after the crash by a passer by.

He was laid on the pavement when the emergency services arrived.

Watch manager Alan Woodcock, of Huddersfield fire station, said: "It is always best to leave people where they are unless, of course, the vehicle is on fire.

"If they are suffering a serious injury - particularly to the neck or spine - it could be made worse by moving them."

Police are anxious to hear from anyone who saw the crash or the car travelling on Reinwood Road from Quarmby towards Lindley.
