WEEKEND clubs aimed at helping people get creative are being held in Huddersfield.

New dates have been announced for Huddersfield Art Gallery’s popular Saturday art club and writing group.

The monthly art club is aimed at children aged four to 12 years and the next session will be held this Saturday at the gallery. There will also be clubs on May 24, June 28 and July 12, from 10.30am to 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

Using the art displayed in the gallery as inspiration, artist Helen Moore will lead the activities in a variety of art forms, including painting, sculpture, printmaking and drawing.

Places are limited, so youngsters are advised to book now for the summer term.

For further information, or to book a place, contact Ruth Gamble at the gallery on 01484 221964.

The gallery on Princess Alexandra Walk also hosts the monthly family writing group. The sessions are led by poet and playwright Rommi Smith, who also uses the gallery’s exhibitions to encourage creativity.

Forthcoming dates for the group are April 26, May 31, June 21 and July 19, all from 11am to1pm.

It costs £2 per adult and £1 per child to take part, with tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit included.
