COURTS in West Yorkshire are the first in the country to introduce a new system for paying fines.
A 24-hour, seven-days-a- week automated credit or debit card telephone service is available to people who have been ordered to pay monetary orders by the court or by way of a fixed penalty.
The system - introduced by West Yorkshire Magistrates' Court Service - is available to callers who have had their cases heard in Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Halifax, Wakefield, Pontefract, Leeds, Bradford and Bingley.
Collection and enforcement director Maureen Diamond said: "We wanted to help make the payment system as easy as possible."
