AS a first time dad Simon Hewitt was so excited he wanted to mark the milestones he would go through.

But while his wife was given journals for mothers – he found there were none for dads in the book market.

So he set about writing his own, and his journal One Blooming Dad has now been published and is available in Waterstone’s and WH Smiths nationally.

Now his son Jayden is aged four, he hopes his experience will help other men as they become a dad for the first time.

Simon, a hypnotherapist from Crosland Moor said: “My wife Bev was given a journal at a baby shower, but when I went to find one they were all aimed at women.

“There wasn’t anything for dads so I started writing about my own experience.”

After showing it to family and friends, he decided to publish it and it’s now available in book shops throughout the country.

The 34-year-old added: “The first 12 months were just an amazing experience, I wanted to remember everything and I did that by writing it down.

“Hopefully one day Jayden will read it too.”
