A PARK lake restoration project has had a £53,000 boost.

The money has been secured to fund a lake restoration project for Crow Nest Park in Dewsbury.

Heritage Lottery Funding has been granted after Kirklees Council staff and the Friends of Crow Nest Park submitted an application and were awarded £53,401.

As well as the work funded by the grant, a freelance project officer will be employed, funded from the same grant.

The job of the officer will be to increase the number and diversity of park visitors, plan events for schools, and help set up a Young Friends of the Park group.

Kirklees Cabinet will be asked to approve the role for the work at their next Cabinet meeting on June 17.
