A MOTHER-of-five who claimed more than £6,500 in benefits she wasn’t entitled to has been given a curfew by magistrates.
Kathleen O’Brien, of Highfield Avenue, Meltham, claimed income support, housing benefit and council tax benefit while she was living with her partner.
She failed to notify the Department for Work and Pensions about her change in circumstances.
It led to her claiming money she was not entitled to between April 1 2004 and March 2005.
Appearing before Huddersfield Magistrates’ on Monday, the bench heard that O’Brien, 44, had claimed a total of £6786.49.
Magistrates’ placed her under a four-month curfew and ordered her to pay costs of £75.
